Back From Holidays
Back from a wonderful holiday in The Grampians, also known as Gariwerd. It is a treasure trove of Aboriginal experiences and amazing walks. We all had a relaxing and informative 5 days there. Photos to follow as soon as I have uploaded them!

Cathy Update - Day 7 of rehab
Mum is doing very well at the rehabilitation hospital. I visited her today and watched her go through her physio routine for half an hour. She never gave up on an exercise and only got really puffed right towards the end of the session. She is still amazed that even picking up a cup of coffee to drink is still so difficult. This is why she is there for at least another week. Home help is an option that she will be taking up, so that is good. At least the housework will be taken care of. Even in the hospital she is worrying about Dad. I have told her to stop - that he can take care of himself, but she can't help it. Anyway, she looks good, is eating well and has a bright outlook. There are moments when she is very emotional, but who wouldn't be??
More updates on the weekend when I have seen her again.

Triumph and Epic Fail!
The triumph? Rachael's patrol got a silver award at the Cohen Shield! Yay for Laurence, who was PL for the first time. Her footsal team also won on Friday at school, so they progress to the next stage of the comp, but no-one is quite sure what exactly that is yet!
The epic fail?? The Neighbours website is not playing videos correctly! I can't watch the episode I missed tonight while we were eating dinner! Aaargh! How am I going to keep up?????

Rachael is at Cohen
Cohen Shield, that is. She and 16 other Scouts have taken off for the wilds of Bay Park in Mt Martha. It will be cold, but at least the weather is not rainy (at least at the moment). There should be plenty for them to do tomorrow to keep them warm. She is back on Sunday. Things are a lot quieter around here with her away......missing her already.

Tried to make her go to Rehab, she said yes!
Mum has been moved to Nepean Rehabilitation Hospital in Frankston. This is great news for Dad, as he can now visit her much more easily. Great news for us too, but a bit further to go for a visit! She is doing much better. Potassium levels sorted out (obviously) and she is doing physiotherapy and starting to move back towards her old life now. She is there for another week or so.

Cathy Update Tues 7th Sept.
Mum is doing okay, but her potassium levels are still too low. This means she has an irregular heartbeat, as potassium is what helps your heart keep it's rhythm (the things you learn....). Anyway, she can't go to the rehab hospital until they have the potassium and heart rate under control, so it looks like Mum will be stuck at Jessie Mac for at least another 5 or 6 days minimum. Apart from that, she seems fine. Pain is being managed and she looks well, but tired. Of course the potassium will have a lot to do with that too. The doctors and nursing staff are confident they can get it under control, but it might take a while. Mum tells me she was having trouble with her potassium levels BEFORE she went to hospital too, so we just have to wait and let the medications do their work. I will be seeing her again tomorrow, so I can regale her with a full account of Stephen's performance! More then.

I've Lost the Plot!
This is the title of the whole school concert Stephen is starring in tonight. We are all very excited about seeing him up on stage. Thankfully he appears early in the show, too, before we have a chance to feel jaded about the whole thing! A small solo in the Senior Choir and then he is the narrator for the Grade 4 piece: "Romeo and Juliet : The Sequel". He knows all his lines - let's hope he doesn't freeze up there on stage. Will post again after it is all over...

Cathy's Post Op Update
Hi everyone
Mum is out of ICU and is in a ward now. She has had some problems with her heart rate the past 24 hours, so has been ordered complete bed-rest for the next day or so. She may have done a little too much too soon yesterday when she had a shower and a short walk, so I won't be visiting her today. Dad and Rhonda have already been, so I don't think she will miss me today anyway. Will keep you all posted on her progress as more news comes to hand.
In the meantime, here is a photo of her in hospital....
